A Milestone for Travel & Tourism, ETTravelWorld

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) will host its Global Summit in New Delhi in 2027, bringing together international tourism leaders, investors and policymakers to discuss the future of the global Travel & Tourism sector.India was selected from among 21 destinations to host the flagship event, according to WTTC Chairman Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio. The summit is expected to provide a platform for global industry leaders to strengthen collaboration and explore investment opportunities across India’s tourism ecosystem.“We are delighted to bring the world’s most important Travel & Tourism event to India in 2027, chosen from among 21 destinations. New Delhi will provide the perfect stage for global leaders to come together, drive collaboration, and continue shaping the future of the sector,” Lefebvre d’Ovidio said.WTTC President and CEO Gloria Guevara said India’s tourism potential, economic growth and expanding global connectivity made it a suitable destination for the gathering.“India is a country with extraordinary tourism potential and a sector that is already delivering remarkable economic growth. Its scale, ambition and growing global connectivity make it a natural place to bring the world’s Travel & Tourism leaders together,” Guevara said. She added that the summit would provide an opportunity to showcase India to WTTC’s global membership, strengthen public-private partnerships and explore ways to attract a larger share of international travel demand.“This will be an opportunity to showcase the country to our global membership, strengthen public-private partnerships and look at how India can capture even more of the international demand that is driving the next chapter of global Travel & Tourism,” she said. The decision follows a period of expansion in India’s Travel & Tourism sector and reflects WTTC’s approach of taking its flagship event to markets that are contributing to the industry’s future development.India has a substantial domestic tourism market, while attracting more international visitors and increasing international visitor spending are emerging priorities for the sector. WTTC’s research highlights opportunities for the country to build on domestic demand and capture a greater share of international tourism expenditure. The summit is also expected to highlight the role of cooperation between governments and private-sector businesses in supporting tourism growth. Its participants typically represent areas including investment, infrastructure, connectivity, hospitality, aviation, technology and destination development.By bringing these stakeholders together, the event aims to create opportunities for partnerships and investment discussions across the tourism value chain.Hosting the 2027 summit will place India at the centre of discussions involving global Travel & Tourism stakeholders, with a focus on collaboration, international demand and the development of the sector.
